Sipe ActivatorsThe sipe activators on the edge of the tire's tread pattern enhance the sipes' performance on the most slippery surfaces.
Canola Oil - Silica CompoundThe canola oil - silica compound makes the tire more resistant to tears and improves its abilities on a wet surface as well as improves its rolling capacities without compromising winter driving qualities.
Arrowhead Tread Pattern (directional)Expels water, snow and slush while providing exceptional lateral grip.
Single Wire Bead ConstructionThe single wire bead ensures the tire maintains its integrity during all driving conditions and allows the tire to roll with less effort.
Jointless Nylon BeltHelps prevent tread separations while providing a smooth, comfortable ride.

I wish my summer tires handled as well as these. Great in the slush, deep snow and excellent in the rain/freezing rain. For a winter tire, they are pretty quite as well.

This tire was very good on snow at cold temperatures, but when the snow became wet and slushy, the traction was poor. Also, there was more wheelspin than I liked when accelerating on frost-covered and icy roads. I was expecting better traction on ice, compared to the inexpensive Walmart winter tires I had before. One minor point is that these tires made an annoying whistling noise on wet roads because of the "micro pump" tread design. (Apparently the newer generation R2 has addressed this issue with dimples in the sides of the tread blocks to absorb the sound waves.) Otherwise, the tires rode nicely and handled well - like good all season tires - when the roads were not slippery.

Dry Traction 5/5   Steering Response 4/5
